It’s the perfect time for new students at Birmingham Law School to be sorting their membership ready for the new term and all of the amazing events and opportunities to look forward to with the Holdsworth Club!
Membership includes more this year than it ever has, with free entry to one of the most infamous events of the year – LAID, as well as a host of goodies with your welcome pack, including a free copy of your First Year Photo, a free Holdsworth t-shirt, a free Holdsworth keyring and a load of items from a variety of law firms who are keener than ever to be involved with the most historic Law Society in the country, not to mention a copy of the Freshers Booklet and, for the first time, The Holdsworth Club’s – “Introduction to Legal Careers.” And as ever, membership to the Holdsworth Club is for LIFE.
The easiest way to get your membership is on this website, by filling out the form provided and making payment through PayPal. Don’t forget to provide us with a passport sized photo for your membership card, either by post prior to your arrival, (along with a copy of your details,) or as soon as you arrive and collect your pack.
Postgraduates – £40
The best way for you to sort your membership and take advantage of the reduced price is by post. Follow the link provided to access the membership form and enter “POSTGRAD” as the PayPal reference. Note: You will still need to include your student number so that we can verify your Post-Grad status. Then you can send your cheque (Do not send cash through the post) as well as a passport sized photo and a copy of your details to :
FAO: Andy Swarbrick, The Holdsworth Club, Birmingham Law School, University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, B15 2TT
Masters / GDL Students – £25
As one year students this enables a further discount. This can be used by entering “MASTERS/GDL” instead of the PayPal reference and following the same procedure as above. Again, your Student ID No. will be necessary to confirm your status as a Masters/GDL Student.
On behalf of the Holdsworth club, I would just like to welcome all the new Law students who will be joining the Law school in September and would like to say congratulations on securing your place at Birmingham. I encourage you to look at the About section to find out about the Holdsworth club and its prestigious history. The new committee is very excited about this coming year and we all hope you will be joining the society and making the most of what we have on offer for you! To find out about the committee and what we do please check out the committee profiles and if you have any questions do not hesitate to get in touch with us (contact details on the right-hand side).
We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to seeing you very soon, for what promises to be an amazing Holdsworth year.
As I’m sure you all know, the Law Annual Initiation Drinks (LAID) is taking place on Monday 11th October at 19:00.
We will be starting at Joe’s Bar at the Guild, before coaches take us (at approx. 19:40) to:
- Sports Cafe
- Oh Velvet
- Loaded at Gatecrasher with our very own room!
For all new members, LAID is included in your membership cost, so if you haven’t done so already, come down to the Holdsworth Office (top floor of the Law School, besides LT1) on Monday to collect your LAID T-shirts (which is, as many of you have asked, your ticket for the event). And yes, it is 3-legged, you will be paired to someone, so I hope you’re co-ordinated!
Looking forward to a great night!
Further questions, contact your loving freshers’ rep James Frost.
For those who were having problems entering their student ID in the relevant box, apologies; the issue has now been fixed. There is, of course, no need to pay your £55 via PayPal again if you have already done so, so just proceed straight to the membership form and enter your details. For those of you who have not yet paid to join the Holdsworth Club, here are the steps you need to complete.
You can now join the Holdsworth Club, as a lifetime member, via this website. Full instructions can be found on our membership page.
A quick note on membership to the Holdsworth Club: it is exclusively reserved for those who are students or staff at the Birmingham Law School. The Club exists to enrich the experience and employment prospects of students by organising social activities and careers events throughout the year. Membership costs £55 and includes entry to the infamous LAID bar crawl in week 2, as well as a copy of the First Year photo in Freshers Week. Membership to the Holdsworth Club is for life and no renewal is necessary, which means that members are entitled to attend both social and careers events even after graduation.
